Employee Forum meeting highlights for October 7

The Employee Forum passed both a proclamation and resolution against outsourcing, and asked that the administration reconsider sending out a Request for Proposals (RFP) to outside companies to bid on taking over Student Stores operations. From the Carolina Campus Community Garden

Thirty Marathon Petroleum executives in town for training at the Kenan Institute weeded and mulched half of the garden's pathways. On another workday, volunteers chopped and turned compost, installed irrigation hoses and cleared and amended beds. They planted spinach and mesclun, and they harvested 74 pounds of peppers, kale, collards, mustard, lettuce, Chinese cabbage, arugula, radishes, muscadines, dill, parsley, and peas. Annual Jingle Bell Jog registration now open

The Campus Recreation annual Jingle Bell Jog is a 2.7 mile fun run or 1.5 mile walk open to all UNC-Chapel Hill faculty and staff. With over 500 participants in previous years, the event promotes physical activity, health and well-being and provides employees with the opportunity to contribute to the Glenwood Elementary Family Assistance Program by making canned food donations. In addition, pet donations will be given to the Orange County Animal Shelter. Free refreshments will be provided for participants after the event. This event is rain, shine or snow! Register here.

When: Friday, Dec 4, 2015 at 12:15pm
Where: Student Recreation Center Studio A (second floor)

 All participants will be eligible for prize drawings following the run/walk, while those bringing donations will be entered for a special prize drawing. Awards will also be given to the team with the most participants and to the team with the most creative costumes celebrating the holiday season.

Kids ROCK Gymnastics is now open for registration

UNC Women’s gymnastics team will be hosting a morning full of fun flips, tricks, and twists on Saturday, December 12th, 10am-12pm at Fetzer Hall, Gym C. Register here for this free event. 

Annual benefits enrollment underway

From the Office of Human Resources: The 2016 benefits annual enrollment period is underway and will continue through Nov.18. Changes to benefits made during annual enrollment will become effective Jan. 1, 2016. Employees who need assistance can stop by the Office of Human Resources (104 Airport Dr.) on:

• Mon., Nov.16, at 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Tues., Nov.17, at 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Wed., Nov. 18, at noon to 5 p.m.

Come prepared with your UNC onyen and password information. Assistance is available for navigating the benefits eEnroll portal; however, it is important to note that the OHR Benefits staff can neither perform transactions nor complete on-line wellness credit activities on behalf of employees.

AWFP sponsors workshop titled 'Navigating the Complexity of Gender in the Workplace'

Faculty/Staff HAVEN training registration open for December

HAVEN (Helping Advocates for Violence Ending Now) training provides students, faculty, staff and Post Doctoral Fellows with tools to be an ally to someone who has experienced sexual or interpersonal (relationship) violence or stalking. The three-hour training emphasizes the importance of listening, responding compassionately, and connecting survivors to resources on campus and in the community. The next faculty/staff training session is scheduled for December 16, 2015 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Click here to register. Staff participation in HAVEN training sessions is considered paid work time.

UNC Athletics offers staff discounted tickets
