Message from the Carolina Community Garden:

Thanks to some wonderful weather and the generous spirit of five high school students, seven neighbors and other community members and three UNC students, we were able to get quite a lot done this past Sunday. Beds were cleared and prepared for spring plantings, garden debris was chopped up and added to the compost that with considerable effort was turned, several varieties of pepper, eggplant, basil and okra seeds were started in flats and 44 pounds of collards, kale, Savoy cabbage, two varieties of spinach, salad greens, chard and pea shoots were harvested and distributed to 26 very gracious first-shift housekeepers this morning.

We will be back in the garden on Wednesday from 3:00 – 5:00, primarily focused on preparing more beds for some serious planting on Sunday.

We will also be at the Work Well Live Well Expo tomorrow over at the Rams Head Recreational Center from 11:00 – 2:00 raffling off some CCCG t-shirts and offering samples of some sweet potato bread. Please stop by and say hello!
