The Gender Violence Services Coordinators (GVSC) are confidential advocates for all students, faculty, and staff who have experienced, or are experiencing, interpersonal violence, stalking, and gender-based violence either before or during their time at Carolina. GVSCs are located in the Carolina Women’s Center.

GVSCs Cassidy Johnson and Holly Lovern provide emotional support, answer questions about University and police reporting options, assist in navigating the reporting process, and connect individuals to support options at UNC and in the community. The GVSCs can also accompany individuals to another office/department/agency to request additional support.

Cassidy and Holly are available to meet with students, faculty, and staff:

  • By appointment: Monday-Friday, 9 am-4pm
  • Without an appointment during drop-in hours: Mondays, 1 pm – 4 pm in Koury Residence Hall Room 173, and Thursdays, 3 pm – 5 pm in the LGBTQ Center in SASB South

To get in touch with the GVSCs, you may do any of the following:

  • Email gvsc@unc.edu to set up an appointment. Cassidy or Holly will respond to your email within 24 hours or the next business day.
  • Call Cassidy at 919-962-1343 or Holly at 919-962-7430. If unable to answer, Cassidy or Holly will respond to your message as soon as possible.
