Honoring William O. McCoy, Interim Chancellor of the University Upon His Departure
RESOLUTION OF THE EMPLOYEE FORUM
THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT CHAPEL HILL
August 2, 2000
WHEREAS, the Mission of the Employee Forum is to address constructively the concerns of the Employees of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; and
WHEREAS, these concerns include the recognition of individuals who have distinguished themselves in service to the University community, so as to encourage similar achievement among the remainder of the community’s members; and
WHEREAS, an individual among us has given of himself by stepping out of retirement into command as our interim Chancellor during a time of crisis; and
WHEREAS, this individual has since guided our campus with a steady and wise hand while displaying a characteristic gentility, warmth and attention to detail; and
WHEREAS, during his stewardship, this individual has persistently advanced the standing and interest of staff Employees at this University through example and practice, truly setting a new standard in administration-staff relations; and
WHEREAS, this individual has extended himself to provide and receive counsel from the Forum’s members and leadership, on an equal standing with the Faculty, Students, Staff, and Administration of this University; and
WHEREAS, this individual, in a position of great power, has taken the interests of staff to heart in his deliberations, as well as his consideration and implementation of Forum initiatives and projects; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Employee Forum extends its warm thanks and best wishes to William O. McCoy as he departs from the University into a well-deserved retirement
AND, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Employee Forum hereby extends to William O. McCoy an open invitation to attend and participate in future deliberations of this body.
