Urging Chancellor Moeser to Hold Frequent Community Meetings
RESOLUTION OF THE EMPLOYEE FORUM
THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT CHAPEL HILL
January 19, 2001
WHEREAS, the Mission of the Employee Forum is to address constructively the concerns of the Employees of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; and
WHEREAS these concerns include fostering communication among the whole of the campus community, so as to increase general understanding of the plans, prospects and policies underway at the University, and to register questions and concerns about these actions; and
WHEREAS, one method of fostering such communication is the community meeting, at which campus members can raise questions and receive responses from campus leaders; and
WHEREAS, the October 26 community meeting featuring Chancellor James Moeser was particularly effective in delineating prospects and difficulties facing the University upon passage of the bond referendum;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Employee Forum encourages the Chancellor and Administration of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to hold – future community meetings featuring top-level administrators such as Chancellor Moeser on a frequent and regular basis
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Employee Forum encourages the Administration to continue to provide worktime for Employees to attend these meetings, so as to avail themselves of the opportunity they represent
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Employee Forum encourages the Administration to maintain sufficient time at each community meeting for questions and answers from the audience, in order that respondents can register their viewpoints with presenters.
