Concerning Staff Representation on the Chancellor’s Advisory Committee
RESOLUTION OF THE EMPLOYEE FORUM
THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT CHAPEL HILL
April 3, 2002
WHEREAS, the Mission of the Employee Forum is to address constructively the concerns of the Employees of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; and
WHEREAS these concerns include matters of program planning and assessment and resource planning and allocation; and
WHEREAS the Faculty Code of University Governance states that the Chancellor’s Advisory Committee shall be advisory to the chancellor “in…program planning and assessment, resource planning and allocation, and other matters which are deemed important by the chancellor or the committee”; and
WHEREAS the well-being and future direction of the University depends greatly on these matters; and
WHEREAS the recent and prospective cuts to staff employment make staff input into program planning and assessment and resource planning and allocation more important than ever, given staff Employees’ unique knowledge and insight into campus operations; and
WHEREAS the members of the staff have valuable perspectives, information, and insight that will be beneficial to sound governance and deliberation;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Employee Forum calls upon the Chancellor and Chair of the Faculty of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to provide for a seat and voice on the Chancellor’s Administrative Council for the Chair of the Forum.
