Concerning Use of the Staff Development Fund
RESOLUTION OF THE EMPLOYEE FORUM
THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT CHAPEL HILL
July 3, 2002
WHEREAS, the Mission of the Employee Forum is to address constructively the concerns of the Employees of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; and
WHEREAS these concerns include provision of training opportunities for staff Employees, to improve job skills and general morale; and
WHEREAS the Employee Forum has authority to make recommendations on use of earnings on the University’s Staff Development Fund; and
WHEREAS the Employee Forum Career Development committee proposes that the University designate Staff Development Fund earnings to supplement grants and reimbursements to Employees through the Educational Assistance Program; and
WHEREAS the Educational Assistant Program provides reimbursements to Employees seeking job-related training opportunities at educational institutions and is a worthy and beneficial program
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Employee Forum recommends to the Chancellor and his designees that the University devote earnings from the Staff Development Fund to supplement monies available to the Education Assistance Program in perpetuity, subject to annual review and approval by the Forum Career Development committee and the full Forum
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Forum recommends that officers administering the Educational Assistance Program make annual reports to the Forum on the use, administration and distribution of these funds.
