Concerning the Winmore Housing Initiative
RESOLUTION OF THE EMPLOYEE FORUM
THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT CHAPEL HILL
December 4, 2002
WHEREAS, the Mission of the Employee Forum is to address constructively the concerns of the Employees of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; and
WHEREAS these concerns certainly include the provision of appropriate and regular pay increases to those Employees, as a means to meet increasing costs of living and as a way to reward exceptional service; and
WHEREAS the University has been unable in recent years to offer such increases to Employees in light of recent legislative action; and
WHEREAS the cost of living in the Towns of Chapel Hill and Carrboro has risen dramatically in recent years; and
WHEREAS the Board of Trustees has sanctioned a proposal to build affordable housing units in the Winmore land tract
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Employee Forum declares its support for the effort to establish affordable and reasonably priced housing for University staff in the Winmore tract, and urges the Carrboro Board of Aldermen to work with the Winmore partners towards realization of this plan.
Signed on Behalf of the Delegates of the Employee Forum,
Chair Tommy Griffin
