Concerning the Possible Implementation of a Team Cleaning Process in the University Housekeeping Department
RESOLUTION OF THE EMPLOYEE FORUM
THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT CHAPEL HILL
August 3, 2005
WHEREAS, the Mission of the Employee Forum is to address constructively the concerns of employees of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; and
WHEREAS, those concerns include the representation of staff concerns to University officials, State Legislators, and the citizenry of North Carolina; and
WHEREAS this Forum has been made aware of significant concerns held by many of the housekeeping staff regarding the proposed changes to the working conditions and practices of university housekeepers and
WHEREAS in order to participate in a meaningful and constructive discussion on this matter at the recently scheduled meetings where the topic of team cleaning will be discussed housekeeping staff must be more fully informed before the meetings
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this Forum strongly recommends that housekeeping staff have access to any and all research and reports conducted by, or submitted to Facilities Services management regarding (OS1) Team Cleaning as a matter of urgency so they can review the material before the meeting where the topic of team cleaning will be discussed.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Forum will fully support all efforts by the housekeeping staff to ensure that they are kept fully informed and consulted at all times about any proposed changes to their working conditions and practices and that their views on these issues be treated with the utmost respect and seriousness before any changes are made by facilities services management
