Supporting Acceptance by the Carolina First Committee Board of Trustees of the Proposal to Provide Free Tuition for Children of UNC Faculty and Staff
RESOLUTION OF THE EMPLOYEE FORUM
THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT CHAPEL HILL
February 7, 2007
WHEREAS the Mission of the Employee Forum is to constructively address the concerns of the Employees of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, including the representation of staff concerns to University officials, the University of North Carolina General Administration, State Legislators, and the citizenry of North Carolina; and
WHEREAS an Ad Hoc Committee has proposed to the Executive Committee of the Carolina First Campaign that it recognize and reward long-term University UNC-Chapel Hill staff and faculty by granting free tuition to their children; and
WHEREAS this proposal makes a clear and tangible statement of appreciation to those who are essential to the functioning of the University; and
WHEREAS the Employee Forum has been aware of the long-term decrease in the benefits available to UNC’s staff; and
WHEREAS the Employee Forum supports programs that improve staff retention at the University; therefore
BE IT RESOLVED that the Employee Forum supports the Proposal to Provide Free Tuition for Children of UNC Faculty and Staff and requests that the Carolina First committee accept and submit this proposal to the UNC Board of Trustees; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Employee Forum supports the proposal and requests the UNC Board of Trustees adopt this proposal; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Employee Forum of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill recommends that the Chancellor and his Administration support and convey the concept of this resolution and the position of the Employee Forum to the members of the Board of Trustees.
