Resolution 13-02, Honoring Chancellor Holden Thorp
RESOLUTION OF THE EMPLOYEE FORUM
THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT CHAPEL HILL
May 1, 2013
WHEREAS, the Mission of the Employee Forum is to constructively address the concerns of the Employees of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; and
WHEREAS, these concerns include the recognition of individuals who have distinguished themselves in service to the University community, so as to encourage similar achievement among the remainder of the community’s members; and
WHEREAS, when the accomplishments of an individual are combined with an extraordinary application of power and influence on behalf of the Employees of our University, civility itself requires a fitting acknowledgment; and
WHEREAS, in matters great and small, this individual has extended himself in commitment, kindness and respect for the abilities and aspirations of the staff employees of this University; and
WHEREAS, these matters include, but are not limited to, bringing in outside consultants to address longstanding problems in Housekeeping; supporting the celebration of the Forum’s 20th anniversary; making it possible for the Forum to sponsor a Habitat for Humanity house; supporting the Forum’s community garden initiative; and inviting the Forum chair to speak at University Day; and
WHEREAS, this individual’s respect for employees has made itself manifest in a myriad of other ways too numerous to mention; and,
WHEREAS, this individual has consulted and supported this Forum habitually in his duties as Chancellor of our University; and,
WHEREAS, this individual has served the entire University community with distinction, dignity and honor through difficult times and in so doing has served as a bulwark of integrity for this institution;
THEREFORE BE IT NOW RESOLVED that the Employee Forum hereby confers lifelong honorary Delegate status upon Chancellor Holden Thorp, along with an open invitation to attend and participate in future deliberations of this body.
