Concerning Full Implementation of Office of State Personnel Pay Improvement Guidelines
RESOLUTION OF THE EMPLOYEE FORUM
THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT CHAPEL HILL
May 3, 1995
WHEREAS, the Mission of the Employee Forum is to address constructively the concerns of the Employees of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; and
WHEREAS, those concerns certainly include the receipt of regular and appropriate salary increases, as a means of meeting the cost of living and of receiving tangible reward for having attained proficiency, expertise and a high level of quality in one’s work; and
WHEREAS, the diligence and excellence of the Employees of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has been recognized on many occasions publicly and before this body by members of the Administration and the State Legislature; and
WHEREAS, a reward for this recognized excellence should allow an Employee’s salary at or exceeding the midpoint of the range of the salary in their particular job to be increased when job performance justifies such increases; and
WHEREAS, the Office of State Personnel has already acknowledged these facts by authorizing much needed pay improvements in the form of revised implementation guidelines; and
WHEREAS, the current budget situation, while undermining the University’s ability to provide pay increases to Employees in the affected classes, does not diminish either the demonstrated excellence of University Employees or the need to recognize this excellence with correspondent pay improvements;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Employee Forum urges the Administration to keep in the forefront of its thinking the need for full implementation of the Office of State Personnel pay improvement guidelines and for correspondent salary increases for all eligible Employees.
