Concerning the Renewal of the Chapel Hill Chapter of the American Association of University Professors

 

RESOLUTION OF THE EMPLOYEE FORUM

THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT CHAPEL HILL

December 6 , 2006

WHEREAS the Mission of the Employee Forum is to address constructively the concerns of Employees of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, including the representation of staff concerns to University officials, the University of North Carolina, the University of North Carolina General Administration and the North Carolina General Assembly; and

 

WHEREAS the Chapel Hill Chapter of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) is being renewed and reinvigorated; and

 

WHEREAS it is important for the concerns of Employees to have many avenues of expression, including to and through like-minded organizations; and

 

WHEREAS the Chapel Hill Chapter of AAUP will be a new, additional avenue of expression for faculty to the Faculty Council and Administration; and

 

WHEREAS the national AAUP has endorsed the right of collective bargaining and the North Carolina chapter of the AAUP has called for the repeal of General Statute 95-98, an objective endorsed by the Employee Forum;

 

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Employee Forum of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill welcomes the renewal of the Chapel Hill Chapter of AAUP, looks forward to a constructive working relationship, and sends greetings to its leaders and members.
