Resolution 15-02 Concerning Actions of the Board of Governors

Resolution of the Employee Forum

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

March 4, 2015

The Employee Forum joins our UNC faculty, staff and student colleagues across the system in expressing our deep concern about the Board of Governors’ actions that have led to the resignation of President Thomas Ross and the recommended closure of the UNC School of Law’s Center on Poverty, Work and Opportunity.

Further, the Employee Forum opposes any effort to create policies that infringe on the rights of UNC staff to express their political opinions or beliefs in accordance with the current policies prohibiting the endorsement of candidates and issues in an election using state resources.

We call upon the Chancellor and leaders in the administration to strongly oppose the Board of Governors’ lack of transparency and failure to provide a satisfactory rationale for both of the above-mentioned actions.

To be signed on behalf of the Employee Forum,

Charles Streeter, Chair
