Seeking Support for SPA Salary Increases

Resolution of the Employee Forum

Of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

November 2, 1994

WHEREAS The Employee Forum is aware that by statute the Board of Governors of The University of North Carolina is charged only with providing a budget request for EPA salaries and that the Governor of North Carolina is charged with requesting SPA salaries; and

WHEREAS The Employee Forum also is aware that the Board and UNC General Administration are supportive of the salary needs of the System’s SPA employees; and

WHEREAS the Forum is appreciative of this support and the continuing efforts of these bodies to be involved actively in improving the salaries and benefits of all employees of the University of North Carolina;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that The Employee Forum of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill requests that the UNC General Administration and the UNC Board of Governors seek public and legislative support to improve the salaries and benefits of all University employees by also including a statement of support for its SPA employees in the narrative of its formal budget request and summary; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Chancelor Paul Hardin be asked to relay to President C.D. Spangler, Jr., on behalf of The Employee Forum, the request that future budget requests reference the invaluable contributions of all University of North Carolina employees and their needs for adequate compensation.

Signed on behalf of the Delegates of the Employee Forum
