A message from Michael Andreasen, vice chancellor for development, below:

Dear Colleagues,

I wanted to share an opportunity to honor Kevin Guskiewicz for his extraordinary 28 years of service to Carolina. A renowned neuroscientist and MacArthur “Genius” Fellow, Kevin has made significant contributions to the fields of sport-related concussions and neurological disorders. Prior to his appointment as chancellor, he held various leadership positions — including as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences — demonstrating his commitment to fostering academic excellence and innovation.

Many of us have had the privilege of working directly with Kevin and know that he cares deeply about the success of UNC-Chapel Hill and its students, faculty and staff. To recognize Kevin’s contributions and leadership at our campus, we have established two named funds that will support causes that hold special meaning for him. Please follow the links below if you would like to make a gift.

  1. Kevin M. Guskiewicz Distinguished Professorship in Exercise and Sport Science

Honoring his lifelong academic contributions to the fields of sport-related concussions and neurological disorders, the Kevin M. Guskiewicz Distinguished Professorship in Exercise and Sport Science will be used to attract or retain a distinguished teacher and scholar to the Department of Exercise and Sport Science in the College of Arts and Sciences.

  1. Kevin M. Guskiewicz Blue Sky Scholarship

Honoring his commitment of being passionately public and assuring access and affordability to all students who call Carolina home, the Kevin M. Guskiewicz Blue Sky Scholarship will provide financial, academic and personal support to middle-income students from across North Carolina.

Thank you in advance for your consideration,

Michael C. Andreasen
Vice Chancellor for Development
