Honoring 2002-2005 Forum Chair Tommy Griffin
RESOLUTION OF THE EMPLOYEE FORUM
THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT CHAPEL HILL
December 7, 2005
WHEREAS, the Mission of the Employee Forum is to address constructively the concerns of the Employees of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; and
WHEREAS, these concerns include the recognition of individuals who have distinguished themselves in service to the University community, so as to encourage similar achievement among the remainder of the community’s members; and
WHEREAS, Tommy Griffin has distinguished himself through exceptional persistence and devotion to duty as Chair of the Employee Forum for an unprecedented four consecutive years; and
WHEREAS, Tommy Griffin has championed the goals of the Forum during his years as Chair by serving as the voice of the Forum in countless meetings with University administrators, staff, faculty, students, state legislators, local government leaders, members of the press, and members of other UNC System staff organizations; and
WHEREAS, Tommy Griffin has contributed untold hours working for Forum causes, including the Forum’s project to write postcards to state legislators, the Forum’s annual food drive, the Forum’s presence at Employee Appreciation Fairs, as well as serving as a Forum Delegate prior to being elected Chair; and
WHEREAS, Tommy Griffin has led the Forum to many advances, including establishment of regular meetings between Forum delegates and the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration; Forum representation in meetings of the Finance Committee of the University’s Board of Trustees; institution of monthly video conferences with other UNC System forums; and Forum participation in the Chancellor’s Task Force for a Better Workplace, which has achieved a variety of improvements for University staff;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Employee Forum extends its heartfelt gratitude and best wishes to Tommy Griffin for his extraordinary service to the Forum and the University; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Employee Forum hereby confers lifelong honorary Delegate status upon Tommy Griffin, along with an open invitation to attend and participate in future deliberations of this body.
