Join us for the second annual #UNCstaff social media scavenger hunt

All UNC staff are encouraged to participate in our social media scavenger hunt on October 16, 2015. Here’s how to participate:

1. Login to your Twitter account and follow @employeeforum.
2. On October 16, 2015 follow #UNCstaff for clues about where to find prize vouchers around campus. If you see an envelope that says #UNCstaff fill out the enclosed card and drop it in campus mail to redeem your prize!
3. Take a selfie and tweet it using #UNCstaff. We want to see pictures of our hardworking employees across campus!
4. Follow #UNCstaff on week of October 19 to find out what prize you’ve won.

All those who fill in the card and send it in to the Employee Forum office will be entered in a drawing to win a kindle!

Don’t have enough experience with Twitter to feel comfortable participating? You can sign up for one of our two Twitter Basics sessions:

A one-hour workshop to introduce you to Twitter, create an account, Tweet, get followers and be a part of the conversation on social media.

Two upcoming lunch-time seminars for UNC staff will provide an opportunity to learn more about using Twitter for your own personal or professional interests. These one-hour workshops will introduce you to Twitter, how to create account, get followers and be a part of the conversation on social media. An optional 30-minute Q & A session at the end of the one hour workshop with Professor Andy Bechtel (School of Media and Journalism) will allow you to pose your own unique questions about getting started with Twitter.

Registration is limited to 28 per class. Lunch is not provided and eating in the computer lab is discouraged. Please eat before or after the seminar. Official rules and tips for staff who are hiding prize vouchers:


Only Carolina staff are eligible to participate and win prizes. To claim your prize, you must mail your voucher to the Employee Forum office at the address listed within 3 days. Your prize will be announced the following week on Twitter using #UNCstaff, and you will be contacted with information about where to pick up your prize. The scavenger hunt will begin at 8 a.m. and end no later than 6 p.m. until all prize vouchers are found.

Tips for hiding prize vouchers:

Your prize voucher(s) will be coded with a number. Think of a good hiding place or places and then come up with some original clues, hints and riddles that relate to the place where you hid your prize vouchers. You can begin hiding and tweeting your clues at 8 a.m on October 16. When you tweet your clues, please be sure to specify the number on your prize voucher. Here’s a good sample tweet for a clue hidden at the Old Well:

V1=Voucher 1

If no one responds that they found your voucher, continue tweeting clues. As the day goes on, your clues should get slightly easier until someone finds your prize voucher. If you have any questions during the hunt, tweet to @EmployeeForum using #UNCstaff.

If you hide a voucher, you are eligible to participate and search for other prize vouchers.
