Yvonne Dunlap volunteered to take and distribute meeting notes
James Holman chair provided a brief explanation on the responsibilities of the Personnel Issues Committee, and also let us know that our group works to make life better for other employees. Emphasis was made on the fact that we help groups of employees, not individuals. We do however, direct individuals to the appropriate department or service when they are in need of help or advice on personnel matters when necessary.
A listing of legislative issues on the agenda for the 2013-2014 sessions was distributed. We were encouraged to watch actions that would impact employees working and students studying at UNC.
The Personnel Committee was established and the chair requested volunteers to lead the three sub-committee. Delegates volunteered to lead sub-committees as follows:
- Staff Relations and Policies – Yvonne Dunlap
- Legislative Actions Committee – David Fraley
- Benefits & Compensation – Shelby Long
Recommendations and Rationale
RecommendationThat the Employee Forum should have in its possession an updated copy of the UNC Personnel Policies and Procedures |
rationaleThe electronic personnel and policies found on-line are cumbersome and difficult to follow. New employees are receiving copies but not all current employees are aware of the availability of this new handbook |
