Employee Forum sponsors 2nd annual Staff Volunteer Work Day at Community Garden

For the second year in a row, the Employee Forum is sponsoring a staff volunteer work day in the Carolina Campus Community Garden. Please join us between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on June 1. With students mostly gone for the summer, there are fewer volunteers in the Garden, and our efforts are even more valuable. For more details on the Carolina Campus Community Garden please see the website at http://uncgarden.web.unc.edu/.

Chancellor's cup golf tournament raises funds for staff development

The 5th annual Chancellor's Cup Golf tournament took place at Tobacco Road Golf Club in Sanford on May 25. The tournament is sponsored and organized by the UNC Staff Assembly, an elected body of staff representatives from the 17 constituent institutions in the UNC system. The Staff Assembly seeks to improve communications, understanding, and morale throughout our respective communities, and to increase efficiency and productivity in campus operations. Funds raised for the tournament benefit the Janet B. Royster Staff Memorial Fund, which provides professional development scholarships to UNC-system staff.

The Employee Forum and Staff Assembly expect to work with administrators as they receive updates and guidance for implementation. In the meantime, you can read about the ruling at the Department of Labor website. Guidance on how the ruling will affect higher education institutions generally is available here.
